USA Climbing Youth Nationals
A unique fitness facility, First Ascent, is beginning activities at its new Arlington Heights location, hosting a national championship for climbing events the last week of July 2022, and a grand opening of their new Arlington Heights facility serving climbing, fitness, and yoga enthusiasts on August 6, 2022. This week, July 25-31, 2022, prior to the general opening of the First Ascent climbing, yoga, and fitness center, First Ascent in Arlington Heights (FA AH), and USA Climbing (USAC) are teaming up to host the 2022 Youth National Championships.
The brand new climbing and fitness facility in Arlington Heights is located just north of the One Arlington luxury high-rise apartment high-rise (3400 West Stonegate Boulevard) at the northeast corner of Euclid Avenue and Rohlwing Road in Arlington Heights. First Ascent is hosting the national championship event just a few days before it opens to the public as a fitness center and climbing facility. The Arlington Heights location is the largest of seven total First Ascent facilities. There are four facilities located in the City of Chicago, one facility in Peoria, and one facility in Pittsburgh.
Before the general opening on August 6, 2022, twenty-four national champions will be crowned as young athletes compete in three separate disciplines (Speed Climbing, Rope Climbing, Bouldering) over the course of the seven-day event. The championship event is hosting 800 youth athletes from every State in the Union.
The championship event, which is being held two years before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will help to identify some of the young stars who will one day vie to compete at the Olympics.
“We are excited to bring our Youth National Championships and Youth Climbing Festival to Chicago. The central location, excellent gym and family-friendly activities will create a fantastic environment for young climbers and their families.”
— John Muse, VP of Sport for USA Climbing
